Building a communication platform for World Boccia
World Boccia is the public-facing brand for the Boccia International Sports Federation (BISFed), responsible for governing the sport of Boccia across the globe.
The sport enjoys huge participation levels and is also a Paralympic sport, soon to be featured in Tokyo 2020.
The Challenge
It is the job of the newly branded World Boccia to communicate key information for the sport’s members and its participants. To support in delivering this, Rocca. was tasked with developing a site which would carry a great deal of information in an accessible and user-friendly format.
The website was required to seamlessly integrate with World Boccia’s upcoming event management platform, which is to be trialled in the Tokyo Olympics, and to carry rankings and event information.
What we did
Working closely with the World Boccia team in a series of remote briefings, Rocca. mapped out the user journey for the website, ensuring that future developments such as the competition management system and world ranking can be easily integrated.
From here the mobile-friendly user interfaced was designed. The design process was iterative, and the website took shape as part of a collaboration between client and partner. This process was simplified by using a content management system which allows the website to be updated regularly and easily.
Rocca. Managed the import of content from the outgoing website, while enhancing its presentation and adding an archiving function which automatically de-cluttered the site.
The Outcome
The new World Boccia website has been a great success for the client and the website’s users. This has been illustrated by an increase in its use over the previous site and direct feedback. Watch this space for more exciting developments in the coming months.
Quote from World Boccia President, David Hadfield:
Our website was in serious need of an update, and we turned to Rocca to help us make it more approachable, interactive and easy to navigate. We are delighted with the result and traffic volumes to our website show that users are now much more engaged in World Boccia activities and news.”
